ARABIC LANGUAGE

Pupils are taught Arabic from beginners level up to GCSE, incorporating Arabic Islamic texts.

First Preparatory Year (F1) Curriculum:
Educational Objective:

Introducing the child to the shapes and forms of Arabic letters and training them to read correctly.

Teaching the child how to draw and write Arabic letters correctly.

Teaching the child how to connect Arabic letters to form words.

Second Preparatory Year (F2) Arabic Language Curriculum
Book: "Foundation, Part 1 & Part 2."
Educational Objectives:

Getting the child accustomed to Arabic sounds.
-
Training them to pronounce these sounds correctly, paying attention to their proper articulation.

Familiarizing the child with Arabic letter shapes so they can read and write them.
-
Teaching the child some synonyms and simple structures appropriate for their age and environment.

Third Preparatory Year (F3) Curriculum:
Book: "I Learn and Master Level 1, Part 1."
Educational Objectives:

Teaching students good reading.
-
Teaching writing and dictation.
-
Enabling students to express themselves and hold conversations.
-
Teaching them to write neatly and legibly.
-
Teaching Arabic songs.
-
All of this is through a deep understanding of the Arabic language, alongside learning good behaviour.

Second Year (Year 2) Curriculum:
General Objective:
The student will become familiar with the Arabic language and will be able to understand, read, and write age-appropriate content through the following four points:

The student should be able to read letters within words, sentences, and texts.

The student should be able to distinguish between similar letters in pronunciation and shape.
-
The student should enhance their vocabulary by understanding sentences, structures, and words and be able to use them in expressions and conversations.

The student should be capable of answering questions and searching for ideas or meanings in texts or online.

Third Year (Year 3) Curriculum:

The student should be able to read and comprehend short or long texts.
-
The student should understand sentences and structures and be able to use them in expressions and conversations.
-
The student should be able to answer questions and search for ideas or meanings from the text or poetry.
-
The student should possess moral and social values, understanding the texts in the book and displaying them in their behavior.

Fourth Year (Year 4) Curriculum:

Learning the ability to read well and understand.

Understanding the meanings of Arabic words, along with synonyms and antonyms.

What can be learned from the texts read.

The ability to answer questions.
-
Learning grammar, morphology, and parsing.

The ability to express oneself.
-
The ability to read advanced texts and comprehend them.
Fifth and Sixth Year (Years 5 & 6) Arabic Language Curriculum:

The student should acquire the skill of fluent, expressive reading.

The student should be able to understand the texts they read and be able to explore meanings by asking questions and seeking answers.

The student should be capable of both oral and written expression about real-life situations using new structures and formulations.

The student should continue learning new rules in grammar and morphology, enabling them to use these correctly in their oral and written expressions.

GCSE Year Arabic Language Curriculum:
-
Following the Pearson Edexcel exam board.
-
Preparing student for the four papers: listening, speaking, reading and writing.
-
Focus and preparations will be on key concepts and topics that are likely to appear.
-
Past exams will be used as revision and practice to familiarise the student with the look and marking scheme of the exam. For many students this will be their first GCSE exam.

Each paper is available at Foundation or Higher tier.
-
Speaking assessment is held in April or May and other three papers will take place in May or June.
