Surah Al-Muddaththir
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O thou enveloped in thy cloak, (1) Arise and warn! (2) Thy Lord magnify, (3) Thy raiment purify, (4) Pollution shun! (5) And show not favour, seeking wordly gain! (6) For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! (7) For when the trumpet shall sound, (8) Surely that day will be a day of anguish, (9) Not of ease, for disbelievers. (10) Leave Me (to deal) with him whom I created lonely, (11) And then bestowed upon him ample means, (12) And sons abiding in his presence (13) And made (life) smooth for him. (14) Yet he desireth that I should give more. (15) Nay! For lo! he hath been stubborn to Our revelations. (16) On him I shall impose a fearful doom. (17) For lo! he did consider; then he planned – (18) (Self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! (19) Again (self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! – (20) Then looked he, (21) Then frowned he and showed displeasure. (22) Then turned he away in pride (23) And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; (24) This is naught else than speech of mortal man. (25) Him shall I fling unto the burning. (26) – Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! – (27) It leaveth naught; it spareth naught (28) It shrivelleth the man. (29) Above it are nineteen. (30)
